The Rose Charitable Foundation War & Grapes Car Rally to France

SEDCOM is taking part in the War and Grapes car rally through France to help raise money for people who have suffered injury or disability whilst serving in the armed forces.

8th to 11th June 2018.

Roseville have finalised the following programme for the rally:

We will have a competition, with a prize for the winner, details to be advised once the format is finalised.

8th June:

Assemble at the Channel Tunnel car park for 9:00 to 9:20am to catch a 9:50am departure.

Upon arrival in Calais, we will drive to Le Touquet for lunch at 13:00Hrs. A trip of 70Km.

After Lunch we will set off from Le Touquet towards our hotel in Deauville/Trouville in Normandy a trip of 230Km.

There will be points awarded if you visit Honfleur (The historic and most picturesque harbour in Europe) on route.

That evening, we will stay at the Best Western Hotel Hostellerie-du-vallon in Deauville/Trouville near the Harbour.

This will be an Evening of Leisure to chill out.

Being a chic French Seaside resort, there is the world-famous Casino in Deauville, for those that feel lucky.

There is a fabulous wide sandy beach, a board walk, bars and harbour front restaurants for those who don’t feel lucky.

9th June:

Depart Hotel towards Caen and the Normandy Beaches (World War 2 D Day Landings). (95Km)

We will visit the British Landing Beach at Arromanches, see the Mulberry Harbour and visit the WW2 Museum.

We will lunch either in Arromanches, Questrom or Bayeux. TBA

Following lunch, we will visit the World War 2 Military Cemetery of Banneville La Campagne to pay our respects to the 2,500 soldiers buried there, who lost their lives in defence of our country.

We will then make our way to the Loire.

We will be staying at the Hotel Anjou in Saumur. A trip of 306km.

10th June:

We have arranged a tour of the Chateau du Petit Thouars Vineyard for the late morning/ early afternoon. This includes Lunch and Wine tasting.

The wine tasting is limited to passengers only as we will need to drive from the Vineyard to the evening destination of Alencon.

Anybody not wishing to partake, can spend the day touring many of the interesting historic Towns, The River Loire and Historic places of interest in the Loire Valley. Both Saumur and Angers are on the River Loire.

On route we will be heading North via Le Mans. Subject to road closures, we may be able to drive down Mulsanne Straight (The fastest part of the Le Mans Race).

Be advised speed limits are imposed as this is a public road most of the year.

Our Hotel in Alencon will be the Hotel Oasis.

11th June:

Leave the Hotel in Alencon in the morning, to make our way back to Calais and the Channel Tunnel.
We are block booked on the 15:20 train from Calais to Ashford.

Total Calais to Calais: Approximately 820 Mile
